Meet our Ayahuasca Shamans and San Pedro Shamans

Who Performs Ayahuasca Ceremony and San Pedro Ceremony?
True Ecuadorian Ayahuasca Shaman and San Pedro Shaman!

All shamanic ceremonies are offered by authentic Ecuadorian shamans, not westerners, so you are getting the real thing! Our ayahausca shaman and san pedro shaman speak English, not just Spanish, so you can communicate directly with our shamans without a translator. The fact that our shamans speak both Spanish and English is what makes the ayahuasca healing retreat experience unique at Gaia Sagrada. Westerners may run an activity like yoga, discussions, meditation, dance or art classes, but true Ecuadorian shamans who studied the shamanic arts in shamanic ceremony for decades, this is who offers the ayahuasca ceremony and san pedro ceremony.

We honor the Ecuadorian shamans who are practitioners of this trade. We see ourselves here at Gaia Sagrada as simply facilitators for YOU to meet a true ayahuasca shaman and san pedro shaman of Ecuador, a bridge between the modern world and the traditions of South America. We bring you the real thing! All our shamans practice ayahuasca healing or san pedro healing with sacred plant medicines using ancient techniques.

The shamans are around for you to talk to at various times during the retreat, so don’t be shy. Most ayahuasca retreat centers prohibit you from “bothering” the shamans, but we encourage you to talk to them if you want to! You will find them to be quite friendly and willing to answer any questions you might have, or simply talk about something just for the fun of it.

If you are debating whether you should go to Peru for an ayahuasca healing retreat and San Pedro retreat, or to Ecuador for an ayahuasca healing retreat or San Pedro retreat, please see our webpage Peru ayahuasca retreat or Ecuador ayahuasca retreatThe biggest and most important difference is that Ecuador shamans are required to have certification in Ecuador whereas Peru shamans are not required. Anyone and everyone can call themselves a shaman in Peru whether they have had training or not in the ayahuasca ceremony or san pedro ceremony skills.

Ayahuasca ceremony is the feminine aspect and San Pedro ceremony (Huachuma) is the masculine aspect. Some shamans say that ayahuasca shows you what you need to change, and San Pedro gives you the power to do it! Both are needed for a balanced experience.

Bring Something Special to Charge Up at the Ayahuasca Ceremony or San Pedro Ceremony

We suggest bringing a crystal or some other spiritual object of importance to you. During the ayahuasca ceremony and san pedro ceremony you may want to have it with you in order to charge it up with the ceremony energy while you journey into spiritual dimensions, experience deep ayahuasca healing, or attain higher consciousness. This way you will be able to tap into the energy you experience during this ayahuasca healing retreat after you leave. You can keep the inner work going this way.

butterfly on handsAyahuasca Dieta (Diet)

Our food adheres to the ayahuasca diet, but isn’t bland or boring like it is at most ayahausca retreat centers! We have found a way to make the ayahausca dieta tasty! Click here to see more about the ayahausca dieta! Keep in mind there are not necessarily 3 meals per day when an ayahuasca ceremony or san pedro ceremony is scheduled. Dinner is skipped on the days of the ayuahuasca ceremony and breakfast or lunch is skipped on the day of the san pedro ceremony. There is always delicious food at the end of the shamanic ceremony, of course!

On the days between the ceremonies you will be able to rest and sleep late. Breakfast is always “help yourself” so you can wake up when you feel like it. There are always snacks and tea available, so you will never be hungry … except for right before the Ayahuasca ceremony and San Pedro ceremony, of course! Once you’ve taken the medicine, though, you are not hungry anymore.
